Slick and Secure

The pressure on pharmaceutical companies to meet strict compliance regulations concerning how they exchange sensitive data means that the standard email is no longer an effective way of transferring this information. Organisations today must be able to guarantee the secure delivery of data files inside and outside the company, regardless of the file size, partner or underlying IT system.

Addressing these challenges, emerging managed file transfer (MFT) solutions include the technologies, services and capabilities to transfer critical information safely to internal and external business partners. This article will examine the growth of MFT technology and discuss how businesses across the pharmaceutical sector can gain control over the movement of data to reduce security risk and help to deliver best practice to meet critical compliance requirements.

THE HISTORY OF INFORMATION TRANSFER

Cast your mind back to the early 1990s, before the internet, an age where communicating via physical mail or fax was deemed perfectly acceptable. These processes often proved to be time consuming and laborious, requiring constant manual input and lacking any real security. Time equates to money, and having to wait for results and analysis via mail can affect product development and severely delay critical trial projects. From a security perspective, a doctor faxing patient data to a hospital at the other end of the country could not be sure there was someone waiting to pick up the document at the other end; the physical nature of the process meant that confirmation of delivery and receipt was problematic.

eSource: Reducing Site Workload for Better, Faster, Safer Clinical Trials

Clinical Ink

Unlike traditional electronic data capture (EDC), SureSource, Clinical Ink’s eSource platform, was designed from the beginning to minimize clinical trial complexity for site users. A Site Impact Survey provides scientific evidence regarding the impact of SureSource from 517 site users. Results confirm it significantly reduces workload, lessens queries, and improves data quality compared to paper and EDC. In this white paper, we quantitatively evaluate survey outcomes, provide qualitative feedback from survey respondents, and highlight the observed benefits of SureSource for transforming clinical research.
