Flexible Packaging Protects Against Contamination

This article gives an overview of the regulatory background on the prevention of contamination during the manufacturing and packing process of APIs, drugs or vaccines. Flexible packaging could be an ideal solution, providing suitable protection for this purpose at a relatively low cost.

Fulfilment of regulatory compliance according to European Pharmacopoeia (EP) or United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is often a primary concern, along with suitable documentation and traceability of all qualityrelated items. However, flexible packaging has to fulfil further requirements; the cleanliness of both high-purity bulk material and the production area have to be protected.
