PMPS and FlyPharma Webinar: What We Learned

Mike Alkire at Premier Inc

The January 19th webinar, Challenges and Opportunities for Pharma Manufacturing and Logistics in the Face of COVID-19, sparked a meaningful discussion about the obstacles that pharmaceutical suppliers experienced in 2020 amidst the pandemic.

They noted that their key focus in 2020 was to manage supplier risk and manufacture medications to reach patients in a timely manner. They also focused on managing risk within their manufacturing operations, making sure they could continue to meet their quality and safety standards.

As we know, suppliers unexpectedly experienced a huge demand in supplies in a very short amount of time. The onset of the pandemic was a challenging situation for any company – no one was really prepared for it – so it was very complex to quickly move products from different sources.

So, one can imagine the surprised look on Mario’s face, when the largest cargo carrier in Europe – DHL – announced their move to Leipzig/ Halle Airport in 2004.
