Services Offered
Patheon
provides dosage form development and commercial manufacturing services for a
variety of molecules, including large and small biopharmaceuticals.Manufacturing
capabilities cover virtually all finished dosage forms, including solid,
semi-solid, and liquid products. Specialised formats and capabilities
include liquid-filled hard capsules, cephalosporins, high-potency, and sterile
manufacturing, including aseptic filling and lyophilisation.
Patheon’s comprehensive range of Pharmaceutical
Development Services (PDS) include pre-formulation, formulation, analytical
development, scale-up and clinical trial materials (CTM) manufacturing. PDS
services are supplemented with Quick to Clinic™ programs which are focused on
accelerating early phase development projects to clinical trials while
conserving valuable active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). With fully scalable
development equipment, Patheon is able to provide a seamless transfer of
clients’ development projects to its commercial manufacturing operations
globally.
All development activities are
supported with comprehensive analytical and bioanalytical services. A Qualified
Person (QP) supports the release of finished products and clinical materials
within Europe. Patheon’s PDS group consists of
nearly 500 skilled scientists, including more than 70 Ph.D.’s, and are offered
from five dedicated development Centres of Excellence in both Europe and North America.
In addition to conventional
capabilities, Patheon’s European facilities provide development and
manufacturing services for specialised dosage forms. PDS Italy offers expertise
in formulation, cycle optimisation, and CTM manufacture of lyophilised
products. PDS UK specializes in sterile dosage forms and is a Centre of Excellence for the
development of biopharmaceutical products.
Facilities
With
3.2 million square feet of manufacturing capacity, Patheon’s global
manufacturing network comprises 14 sites located in North America and Europe;
these include four in the USA,
four in Europe, and six in Canada.
Ten of these high-quality sites offer U.S. FDA-approved manufacturing
capabilities.
Patheon’s
facilities were audited more than a combined 200 times by clients and
regulatory bodies in 2006. The feedback from these audits is incorporated into
the quality systems throughout Patheon’s network of facilities to meet the
highest quality standards.

extensive client base of over 250 international clients consists of
biotechnology start-ups to leading global pharma companies, and includes 19 of
the world’s top 20 global pharmaceutical companies, seven of the top 20
biotechnology companies and seven of the top 20 specialty pharmaceutical
