Glycotope has developed a unique and regulatory approved platform technology for the development and production of NBEs and improved 2nd generation biopharmaceuticals / BioBetters covered by renewed patent protection. This toolbox of human cell-lines, GlycoExpress, allows the manifold improvement of a product’s key clinical properties such as bioactivity, bioavailability and immunogenicity via targeted alteration of the protein’s glycosylation.

Combined with excellent production features, GlycoExpress is suitable for both antibodies and non-antibody-proteins and serves as the foundation of Glycotope´s development pipeline of currently 4 antibodies for the treatment of cancer – the first of which has entered the clinic in 2009, the second in Q2/2010 – and a glycooptimized hormone for the treatment of infertility.

After closing one of the largest financing rounds in European biotech history, the company has enjoyed tremendous growth and – with the 2008 acquisition of Glycotope Biotechnology, an affiliate with more than 25 years of experience in GMP-Production – is able to perform the entire development and production process from the gene to the finished drug. Glycotope currently employs more than 120 people at two sites in Berlin and Heidelberg.
