Who are we?
Agenda 1 is a business spun out from the analytical laboratories of Nektar Therapeutics (UK) Ltd – (a.k.a. Bradford Particle Design Ltd). We are based on the Listerhills Science Park near Bradford University and comprise a team of scientists experienced in employing analytical techniques to support the development and launch of new products. Agenda 1 have systems and equipment validated for delivery to cGMP quality standards, and the team are experienced at working to that quality level.
Who do we work for?
Our partners are primarily drawn from the pharmaceutical industry, but include any organisation with a need for high quality data to support research and development, or for operational purposes. This has included:
- Virtual and start up companies developing new pharmaceutical products
- Companies looking to introduce break-through changes to their industries and requiring robust scientific data to support their research, marketing, IP, or launch activities
- Companies working within regulated industries (e.g. food, medical device, pharmaceutical) that need to ensure they are meeting regulatory standards.
How do we work with our partners?
Our preferred role is as a team member within a given project, often working alongside development scientists or engineers with challenging project goals. We are most comfortable when required to swiftly provide accurate and appropriate data to determine the next steps in a development program or data for a Design of Experiments program. However, we are also happy to work as a contractor on routine work, or provide consultancy support in key areas.
We help clients by measuring, and developing methods to measure:
- The fundamental physical characteristics of their materials
- Particle size and size distribution, Specific Surface area / porosity and bulk density
- Using Sympatec particle sizer and , Micromeritics Tri-star, Tapped volumeter
- Crystalline vs Amorphous state, polymorph identification, metals/heavy metals
- XRD, XRF, DSC, TGA, XRF, ICP-MS/EOS, DVS
- Dissolution of their material in different media
- Erweka dissolution equipment
- The effects their processes have had on their materials
- Residual solvent level measurement
- Design of Experiment support
- The underlying quality of their materials and facilities
- Material Assays and Facility Cleaning Verification
- HPLC, FT/IR, Karl Fischer
- Stability studies
- 25oC/60% RH and 40oC/75% RH stability cabinets
- Microbiology Services
- Bio burden measurement and Environmental Monitoring through a fully equipped microbiology lab.

AMRI Announces Preferred Provider Agreement with BioPontis Alliance LLC
AMRI, a global contract services organization, announced today that it has entered into a preferred provider agreement with BioPontis Alliance LLC. The agreement is aimed at supporting BioPontis’ mission to bridge the gap between early-stage research and technologies being discovered and developed in academia and other research entities. AMRI will provide its services in small molecule discovery, development, and manufacturing in BioPontis’ drug discovery research programs. The agreement also supports the need for proof-of-concept data that is required in the current pharmaceutical company licensing environment. The goal of BioPontis Alliance is to identify promising early stage product opportunities and utilize a preferred network of CROs and leading research companies to apply appropriate expertise to develop these opportunities enough to attract pharmaceutical company licensing partners.
