Outsourcing in Clinical Trials WESTCOAST, Virtual Conference

Arena International

24-25 February 2021
VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

The two-day Virtual 13th Annual Outsourcing of Clinical Trials West Coast 2021 Conference on February 24-25 convenes at a historic moment for the industry.

This event, primarily for trial sponsors and clinical trial providers, will assess what the industry has learned from the rapid rollout of vaccines and how small to mid-sized pharmaceutical and biotech companies can apply these solutions and tools to trial timelines and costs in the years ahead.

This event includes featured sponsors Medidata, Novotech and Saama Technologies. The 2021 programme has four dedicated streams:

•           Clinical Operations & Outsourcing

•           Technology & Innovation

•           Patient Engagement

•           Medical Device Trials

Attendees on Day 1 will hear talks from Ravi Kiron, Head of EMD Serono, who will discuss how to gain investment during a crisis, as well as a technology keynote from Daniel Ramirez at LEO Pharma on the virtualisation of trials. Donald J Kellerman from Zosano Pharma will discuss how Covid-19 will affect the way we outsource and conduct clinical trials in the future.

Day two addresses how to effectively run medical device trials at a local and global level- especially given Covid-19’s disruption to the market this year for small and mid-sized trial sponsors, with key notes and sessions on relevant regulations, digital technology, innovation and Covid-19 responses- ideal for West Coast medical device and life sciences professionals.

Mauritius Island – An Emerging Centre for R&D in Biotechnology and the Life Sciences

CIDP (Centre International de Développement Pharmaceutique)

Mauritius, the tropical island situated in the Indian Ocean and known worldwide for its beautiful beaches, is also internationally recognised for its rule of law, and political and social stability. Over the past few years, the economy has been successfully transitioned from a monocrop to a diversified innovation-driven and knowledge-based economy, resting on agribusiness, export-oriented manufacturing, tourism, financial services, property development and real estate, ICT-BPO, the seafood industry, a free port, logistics and a nascent ocean economy. Emerging sectors such as healthcare and life sciences are presenting some niche areas for the taking, and the enabling environment is being put in place to make it happen - especially in the light of sustained growth within pharmaceutical, medical device, and clinical research. Important international players are already in operation locally as the country has established the appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks based on international norms, for the development of a strong biomedical research sector.
