PREP 2018: 31st International Symposium and Exhibit on Preparative and Process Chromatography

PREP_2018

8-11 July 2018
Hyatt Regency in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, MD, USA

The PREP series of symposia is the most recognized international conference devoted to advances in separation technologies in the field of preparative and process chromatography. Join us for a dynamic and innovative program where experts from around the world will address the latest developments and hottest topics in preparative and process chromatography.

The focus of this conference is the development, design, optimization, and operation of chromatographic processes and technology for a broad range of applications. The program will be packed with papers on biochromatography, downstream processing, QbD, monoclonal antibodies, plasmids, enzymes, vaccines, viral vectors for gene delivery, VLPs, and other biopharmaceuticals, chiral molecules, SFC, fine chemicals, peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, APIs, natural products, batch, multi-column and continuous SMB processes, column technology and equipment, monoliths, new and improved stationary phases, membrane chromatography, regulatory aspects, and more!

Emerging Applications and Processes

The Symposium will provide opportunities to present, discuss, and learn about the latest scientific and technological advances in preparative chromatography; to gain an in-depth exposure to the most recent chromatography products and technologies on the market; to obtain training and education to develop and optimize processes and minimize costs in the production of fine chemicals, chiral molecules, natural products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, peptides, oligonucleotides, proteins, monoclonal antibodies, plasmids, vaccines, viral vectors for gene delivery, VLPs and other biopharmaceuticals; and to access a vast network of separation scientists and engineers working on the most relevant process aspects including continuous and integrated manufacturing, process control, and mechanistic modeling.

In addition to general interest plenary sessions, PREP2018 will also feature focused technical sessions addressing emerging areas important to discovery, development and production including continuous manufacturing, multicolumn chromatography, new and improved stationary phases and equipment, advances in theory, modeling and simulation, intensification and greening of chromatography processes, chromatography in drug discovery and development, supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), and "big data" approaches to monitoring, designing, and optimizing preparative chromatography processes.

Training Workshops and Tutorials

Sunday half-day training workshops will be offered covering preparative and continuous chromatography for biomolecules and for small molecule intermediates and APIs. Tutorials on prep HPLC and on QbD/DOE in biopharmaceutical purification will provide more specialized and practical knowledge in the field. Workshops and tutorials will provide insight in the development, design, and scale-up of chromatography with applications from the laboratory to commercial manufacturing.

Vendor Exhibits and Workshops

The Exhibit will provide access to the latest advances in media, equipment, and services. The program will ensure ample opportunities to meet commercial suppliers featuring state-of-the-art instrumentation, equipment, stationary phases, columns, and modeling software in an integrated poster and booth display area within the facility. Exhibitors will also have the opportunity to present vendor workshops as well as posters highlighting technology advances and new products.

Device Develop for Combo Products

Phillips-Medisize

Combination products are defined as therapeutics combining two or more products (drug/device, biologics/device, biologics/drugs or drug/device/biologics), regulated and sold as a single unit. As these pharmaceutical and biological therapies and treatments have evolved, so has the need to develop appropriate delivery mechanisms for these applications. When developing a combination product, there are many things that need to be considered – the critical relationships between device development and the pharmaceutical or biologic, early establishment of regulatory and clinical strategies, understanding ‘user’ needs, determining product requirements, as well as, device manufacturing variation.
