Biotech Showcase™ is an investor and partnering conference devoted to providing private and small- and mid-cap biotechnology companies an opportunity to present to and meet with investors and biopharmaceutical executives during the course of one of the largest annual healthcare conferences that attracts investors and biopharmaceutical executives from around the world.

The 2017 event showed a substantial increase in the number of presenting companies, as well as significant growth in the number of attendees and one-to-one meetings. Now in itstenthyear, Biotech Showcase 2017 is expected to feature presentations by close to 400 public and private companies and attract more than 3,000 attendees. The event will run a full program of topical plenary sessions and workshops, including special-focus events dedicated to emerging trends.

The demand for innovation in all areas of human health is the impetus behind Digital Medicine & Medtech Showcase, a focus event taking place during Biotech Showcase at Parc 55 in San Francisco. The event brings together key stakeholders at the convergence of traditional therapeutics, digital tools, combination products, companion diagnostics, precision medicine, AI and other technical advances to explore funding opportunities, partnerships and collaboration.

Biotech Showcase is co-produced by Demy-Colton Life Science Advisors and EBD Group. Both organizations have a long history of providing high quality business support services to the biotechnology industry.

Syringe siliconization

Ready-to-fill, i.e. sterile, prefillable glass syringes, are washed, siliconized, sterilized and packaged by the primary packaging manufacturer. They can then be filled by the pharmaceutical companies without any further processing. These days the majority of prefillable syringes are made of glass and the trend looks set to continue. The siliconization of the syringe barrel is an extremely important aspect of the production of sterile, prefillable glass syringes because the functional interaction of the glass barrel siliconization and the plunger stopper siliconization is crucial to the efficiency of the entire system. Both inadequate and excessive siliconization can cause problems in this connection. The use of modern technology can achieve an extremely uniform distribution of silicone oil in glass syringes with reduced quantities of silicone oil. Another option for minimizing the amount of free silicone oil in a syringe is the thermal fixation of the silicone oil on the glass surface in a process called baked-on siliconization. Plastic-based silicone oil-free or low-silicone oil prefillable syringe systems are a relatively new development. Silicone oil-free lubricant coatings for syringes are also currently in the development phase.

2019 Pharmapack Awards

Pharmapack Europe have announced entries for the 2019 Pharmapack Awards are now open across both the ‘Exhibitor Innovation’ and ‘Health Products’ categories with a closing date of 30th November 2018. The Health Products category will include two winners with one for Patient-Centric Design – which is launched in partnership with HCPC Europe (Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council of Europe) – and a second introduced alongside Adelphe for Eco-design in health packaging and drug delivery devices. Pharmapack Europe have also announced that they’re accepting applications for the start-up hub which provides young start-up companies servicing the pharma industry with the benefit of valuable networking and learning opportunities at half the price of a regular stand.
