Telephony and computing technologies are changing rapidly, leading to many changes in IVR systems that will change the experience of clinicians using these systems. This article discusses: the advantages of IVR systems over paper-based systems; the future of IVR systems; and some of the changes that investigators using IVR technology for clinical trials may expect to see.
