Editor's Letter

In the midst of war, these are uncertain times to be going about the daily business of biotech with stock markets initially surging on the news and then reacting unpredictably to specific developments in the conflict. Given the consistently poor market conditions over the last two years, many of the smaller private companies will probably not see much difference in terms of the environment. There is still next to no short-term scope to access funding via the public markets, which continue to exert downward pressure on valuation of private companies, and maintain the high-level scrutiny by venture capital investors in private funding rounds.
