"Venture capitalists take control of your company"

"Not so much 'venture' capital as 'vulture' capital"
Comments such as these often crop up in conversations within the biotech industry where technology entrepreneurs come face to face with venture capital investors. They smack of a normal situation gone wrong. But why does conflict between management teams of small biotech companies and their financial colleagues occur, apparently quite frequently? And is there such a thing as 'best practice' when applied to relations between investor directors and executive management? Executive management talent and all those in the venture capital community would do well to reflect on these questions, since both parties can almost certainly improve on the status quo.
