| The biopharmaceutical industry is an innovative industrial sector considered to have a great potential for the generation of hi-tech jobs and added value products. At the same time the development of new products and processes is connected with long development cycles and, as a consequence, with high costs and risks. In order to improve this situation, industry and university institutes in Austria have joined forces to realise powerful interdisciplinary synergies by implementing a competence centre for biopharmaceutical technology. This approach integrates research and development strategies in all relevant scientific and technological fields resulting in a faster and more efficient optimisation of biopharmaceutical production processes. |
