Clinical Connections

ICT: Partnerships in Clinical Trials (PCT) Europe will be held on 27-29 November in Spain. Over the three days, the event will explore a number of topics. What will be explored on day one?

Louisa Maitland: A top line-up of speakers with a variety of perspectives will be heard from in the PCT Europe opening plenary, including Professor Ken Getz from Tufts University, US, who will examine the role of CROs as facilitators in the convergence of clinical research and clinical care. Business and financial analysis will be examined, looking at CRO mergers and acquisitions and their effect on the pharma industry from Neal McCarthy at Fairmount Partners. Inma Martinez from Deep Science Ventures will explore the future of healthcare, touching upon mobile health, digitalisation, AI, and innovation in regard to clinical trials and healthcare. Then, the plenary session will be rounded off with a panel discussion looking at the future of clinical trials, new partnerships, new innovations, and new processes.

Louisa Maitland has been working as the Conference Director at PCT Europe for the last five years and has worked for a total of 16 years at Informa, producing a variety of conferences, but mainly specialising in biologic manufacturing. After gaining a BSc at Reading University, UK, in environmental science, Louisa then studied Forensic Science at Kings College, UK, gaining her MSc. She started her career working at the Poisons Unit as a forensic toxicologist, before working at GSK for five years as a biochemist.
