Finding Future Markets

Many multinational pharmaceutical companies have begun to conduct multi-centre trials in their global drug development programmes involving Asia, continuing the trend of gradual increase of clinical trial activities in the southeast of the region. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has presented strong points to conduct clinical trials, such as lower cost, ease of access to a variety of populations, and a large treatment-naïve patient pool. Despite this, there are certain limitations, such as a lack of resources, a shortage of global trial experiences, and operational issues in the region. To lead successful global trials, understanding the regulatory environment and strategies to address these environments is essential.

Namjoo Seo is Associate Director in the clinical operation product registration department at PRA. She has 19 years of industry experience, including 12 years of clinical trial experience in Phases 1-4 trials with a wide variety of therapeutic experience in respiratory, oncology, hematology, cardiovascular, neurology, infectious diseases, metabolism disease, and CNS. Namjoo is currently devoted to functional management to support clinical staff of Southeast Asia. She is also working in collaboration with Clinical Vendor Management to address the day to day needs of relationships with vendor performing clinical services in Japan and China. Namjoo holds a master’s degree in industrial pharmaceutical science.

Maree Ward is a Senior Director of Clinical Operations for PRA and is responsible for the management of Australia, New Zealand, and India. Maree has over 19 years in clinical trials working in the UK, the Netherlands, and France as well as in the APAC region. In her current role, Maree is responsible for ensuring clinical trials are ran within the region to a high standard and is also part of the company quality review committee. She supports all departments within the company and is committed to ensuring PRA’s trials run to meet all deliverables while ensuring the development of her team.
