Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packing Sourcer

Heading for Madrid

P-MEC and InnoPack, part of the CPhI Worldwide portfolio of leading pharmaceutical events, are returning once again, offering pharma executives an opportunity to source new suppliers, network and learn

P-MEC Europe, InnoPack and co-located events are being held at Feria de Madrid, Spain, from 9th-11th October 2012. In addition to P-MEC, InnoPack and CPhI, which focus on pharma technology, packaging and ingredients, ICSE looks at pharma contract services. Together, the shows cover every stage of the pharma value chain, with exhibitors in areas ranging from pharma machinery, technology and packaging through to pharma ingredients, CMOs, CROs and (pre-) clinical trials.

The event has a genuinely global focus, attracting visitors and exhibitors from all over the world. Last year’s event, held in Frankfurt, Germany, attracted over 30,000 attendees and more than 2,200 exhibitors from over 140 countries.

All four shows are subdivided into zones, each dedicated to a different area of expertise within the sector and designed to showcase its distinct qualities. Zoning has been warmly received by attendees because it makes the event easier to navigate and enables quick movement between areas.

P-MEC Europe, InnoPack and co-located events are renowned within the pharma industry for the audience they attract, even in comparison to other pharmaspeci c events. Exhibitors report that having a stand at the event puts them in front of senior commercial decisionmakers, allowing them to forge highly productive, longlasting business relationships face-to-face.

For the last few years, P-MEC, InnoPack, CPhI and ICSE have hosted the Innovation Awards, which recognise outstanding innovation among the event’s exhibitors. This year, the scope of the awards has been broadened, and they’ve been renamed accordingly, becoming the CPhI Pharma Awards. The CPhI Pharma Awards feature three categories: Best Innovation, Best Sustainable Packaging and Best Sustainable Stand Design. The Pharma Awards recognise outstanding achievement in pharmaceutical R&D, highlighting pioneers in new, commercially scalable technologies. Entry for the CPhI Pharma Awards is open to exhibitors at CPhI Worldwide, ICSE, P-MEC Europe and InnoPack. The deadline for Best Innovation and Best Sustainable Packaging is 10th August 2012, while Sustainable Stand Design is open until 31st August. The shortlist will be announced on 7th September, with presentations being held by shortlisted exhibitors at the CPhI Speakers Corner on 9th October. Details of how to enter can be found at

Other new and returning features include CPhI Global Meetings, a newly launched ‘match and meet’ service for exhibitors and visitors, as well as the Pre-Connect conference on 8th October, Lunchtime Education sessions during the show days and the popular Speakers Corners in the InnoPack, CPhI and ICSE areas. Samedan are sponsoring the ICSE Speakers Corner – look out for the team there.

A custom-built mobile app is in development that will o er quick and easy access to key information about the event. More details will be published on the P-MEC Europe website ( and via the various social media channels in due course.

Introduction Staphylococcus aureus (SA) is a ubiquitous, formidable Gram-positive pathogen associated with skin and soft tissue, as well as lifethreatening systemic infections. SA is a leading cause of hospital- and community-associated infections worldwide, affecting humans and animals. The wide range of pathologies reflects the diverse abilities of this microbe to escape the innate and adaptive immune response using virulence factors. Since its first emergence in the 1960s methicillin-resistant SA (MRSA) has become endemic in hospitals and healthcare settings worldwide. In the 1990s, community associated MRSA strains (CA-MRSA) emerged, and are spreading worldwide posing a major global challenge.
