Working Together

The life sciences sector is a global, multi-site industry, demanding quality, speed to market and consistency across the whole cold chain. Simultaneously, it is becoming more complex due to a rising need for customised transportation solutions and tighter regulatory framework, with compliance necessary at every point of the chain.

A concentrated effort from the air cargo industry is required to enhance the level of competency, as well as operational and technical preparedness. To respond to such an increased complexity, air cargo carriers have to adapt their business approach, improve their capabilities and, ultimately, differentiate their transportation solutions by strengthening collaboration and communication with all cold chain partners.

Vertical Industry Approach

A ‘vertical industry’ approach is critical to an air cargo carrier’s success. A dedicated team must be in place to acquire industry knowledge and expertise, as well as steer suitable solution offers. Two important aspects of this approach are creating a ‘pharma mindset’ throughout the organisation and establishing a closer cooperation with involved stakeholders, including shippers. Countries in which pharma is one of the key driving forces behind the economy tend to put a special focus on this sector – consider Switzerland, where pharmaceuticals contribute to as much as 30% of exported goods, putting local logistics providers in a prime position to offer pharmaspecific solutions.

Running Better Trials Taking an Intelligent Monitoring Approach

Bioclinica

When it comes to implementing a risk-based monitoring program, it is not just about reducing monitoring visits and doing less Source Document Verification (SDV). It’s about bringing together your people, a solid process, and the right technology to run a better trial. Success with risk-based monitoring requires the ability to make sense of the thousands, if not millions, of data points captured by multiple disparate sources in a clinical trial. With the sheer volume of data generated on a daily basis comes complexity. How does one make sense of it all? Information overload burdens even the most experienced study teams who struggle to understand which data matters most and what it means.
