Cool Cargo

How important is a strong cold chain when transporting sensitive products and why?

To protect these high-value products, we have developed a complete logistical process to maintain shipment integrity. We remain committed to ensuring these temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products are transported seamlessly, that the secure cool chain remains unbroken, and pharma goods are delivered fit for purpose.

All healthcare products are highly sensitive to environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and sunlight, and require specialised handling and operational procedures. Any fluctuations or exposure to these elements will affect the efficacy of pharmaceuticals, hence a seamless cool chain is paramount in the transportation of these.

What role do staff play in this procedure?

Compromised cold chain and temperature excursions can decrease the efficacy of the product, lead to product loss, and even jeopardise the safety of the patient. Hence, staff play a crucial role in maintaining a seamless cool chain, ensuring speed of delivery, security, temperature integrity, and control, as well as minimal exposure to environmental risks such as temperature extremes. Complex product offerings involve several levels of process integration and coordination over a broad spectrum from sales, operations, partners such as ground handlers, ramp handlers, special equipment suppliers, customer service, trainers, and so on.

The Role of the CRO in Effective Risk-Based Monitoring

Medpace

The clinical trial industry is evolving. In an effort to improve participant safety and data integrity, regulators are encouraging trial sponsors to transition from a focused on-site monitoring approach they have traditionally employed toward a risk-based approach that utilizes a combination of centralized and on-site monitoring techniques to ensure patient safety and data quality. The Risk-Based Monitoring (RBM) paradigm has many potential advantages over established monitoring practices including enhanced patient safety and data integrity, more efficient and effective protocol design, reduced costs, and the ability to strategically adjust oversight in keeping with changes in risk level.
