Outsourced Production and Development

Looking back at Bio/PharMOS 2003 just three months after the event, it's fascinating to see how the outsourcing services sector of the life science industry has been unfolding against the dramatic political and economic backdrop, which overshadowed this three day spring event.

Bio/PharMOS 2003 combined a major exhibition, co-located with a keynote conference held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, 26th-28th March 2003. The organising team of VB International set out to reflect the status of subcontracting business in the pharma-biotech sector. A keynote conference with an interactive forum discussing current themes and issues interwoven with the activities in the exhibition hall showcasing a wide range of services on offer. Together, the two parts encapsulated the essence of this thriving sector.

The event took place at a time of economic recession, particularly for the biotech arena, made even worse by political tension building up in the Middle-East amid a deteriorating world situation for the travel industry. Unlike other events earlier in the year, Bio/PharMOS 2003 successfully overcame these difficulties, indeed benefited as a haven of calm for serious business. Spring sunshine and the Mediterranean location combined to bring out the very best, as the event went ahead in an atmosphere of professionalism. There were about 60 exhibitors, bringing their sponsorship to a level comparable with that of the previous event in March 2002. VB International's tried and tested formula deserves a round of applause for an unquestionable success as about 400 attendees took advantage of everything this top quality niche event offered.
