Packaging - The Future in 3D

So - you are a drug company, you have a new chemical entity (NCE) that has taken you eight years to develop. You have run probe studies and the product works (12 months) and a market container study. With all the paperwork to file the drug and get launch approval, the process took a further two years.

Along the way marketing have selected the shape and look they want and identified the launch market. Sales have geared up to sell the product and your affiliates are readying production at five primary and five back-up sites. Already your global procurement is ready to start to reduce the COPS, and the formulation has been passed on for product line extension development.

Packaging technology groups are looking at cost optimisation. The FDA/MCA are watching every step to make sure everything is as it should be. If your drug is a blockbuster then Wall Street and the City, along with your shareholders, have been watching you for the last three years - and anything other than an on-time launch, scale-up and market penetration is a failure for all the scientists, marketers, sales teams and purchasing professionals in the business.
