Being label-conscious is not about whether you insist on wearing the most fashionable clothes, or whether you only drink a particular brand of beer. It is about whether you have considered how much something as simple as labelling might be able to change the way your business or research laboratory operates. For too long, labelling technology has been the unsung hero behind many giant leaps in improving business practice in the pharmaceutical sector.
From replacing out-dated (and some would say, unreliable) methods such as using rubber bands to attach information to sample containers in a laboratory to help identify whether particular items have been sterilised or not, labelling technology offers pharmaceutical companies a range of opportunities that can save time and money. Good labelling practice can increase operational efficiency, improve data integrity and ensure safety.
A good example of this can be found in the clinical trials market where the demands on labelling solutions are significant. For many years the industry has relied on old fashioned labelling techniques that have not changed for over 50 years, and in many cases are still being used today! This is largely because until now, a safe, flexible and cost-effective alternative has not been available and label manufacturers have not had the printing or production technology to solve the problems.
