The Use of a Multi-Chambered Bag in IV Drug Therapy

The IV therapy process is perhaps the area of drug delivery with the greatest potential for improvement, and in
several very important areas:

Minimising drug wastage
Maintaining drug efficacy
Eliminating medication errors
Enhancing patient safety
Reducing pharmacy labour

There is probably nowhere in the hospital that these important issues converge more acutely than in IV therapy. While health care providers have taken significant procedural and documentation steps in order to address these issues, few advancements have been made with drug dispensing systems or the IV bags themselves.
