Downstream Regulation
The pharmaceutical industry is regulated by good practice guidelines regarding the conditions under which drugs are manufactured and packaged. Recently, these guidelines have begun to focus more on the downstream steps of the production flow - that is, on filling and packaging. They classify filling and packaging conditions more
strictly according to the number of particles present in the workshop, but also according to the level of microbiological contamination (assigning four levels - class A, B, C and D).
