Pharmaceutical Packaging and Labelling Summit in Zurich; ACG presentation

At next week’s Pharmaceutical Packaging and Labelling Summit in Zurich (18-19 June), Dr. Eugen Hertel from ACG will be speaking on: Challenges for Global Pharma companies to Implement Anti-Counterfeit Strategy for Russian Track & Trace Regulation.

This presentation will include details around ‘the fight against counterfeit medicine - there have been and still are worldwide initiatives to make the supply chain and the safety of medicines secure. After large markets such as the USA and Europe passed their laws and regulations for the pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and established the IT infrastructure, Russia is now next on the move.

Technically there are some similarities between the regulations and systems, but there are also some fundamental differences as well. These differences make it extremely difficult for companies in different markets around the world to comply with regulations. Requirements such as the "End-To-End Track & Trace" approach, not only Rx, but also OTC products must be serialized and aggregated, language barriers and not to forget the unique “Cryptographic” approach confront pharmaceutical companies with major challenges to comply and the deadline of January 2020 is approaching fast. The regulation requirements must be precisely understood and implemented promptly together with the various stakeholders.’

Biosimilars In Emerging Markets: Is It A Level Playing Field?

PRA Health Sciences (PRA)

Governments, healthcare payers, and social and health reforms, combined with the increased incidence of conditions such as cancer and diabetes are paving the way for increased uptake of biologic medicines in emerging markets. However, expensive biologic medicines can be prohibitive to many patients, creating a high level of unmet clinical need. At its best, the global expansion of biosimilars can mean a robust and steady supply of existing and new drugs reaching far-flung patient populations, but localized biosimilar drug developments, especially in China and India, combined with a lack of robust pharmacovigilance systems, threaten to derail the industry by putting patient health at risk.
