MipTec about to take off by joining forces between Life Sciences Week, ALL-SystemsX.ch-Day, & Jobvector.com
This year,MipTec (October 14-16, 2008) emphasizes the basic science and technology of drug discovery and is being headlined by three leaders in the field: Richard Eglen (PerkinElmer), Mark Fishman (Novartis Pharma AG) & Lee Babiss (F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.).
The conference, attendance for which is free with on-line registration, contains sessions covering the basic science of drug discovery, including:
· Drug Discovery Technologies
Included will be presentations describing Label-Free and Nano technologies as well as developments in Cellular assays and DNA encoded libraries.
· Biological Space: Targets and Tools
The presentations will cover topics such as: RNAi, Biotechniques, Cellular Systems and Advanced Assays.
· Chemical Space: Maximizing Compound Value
This session contains lectures covering:Advances in screening strategies and library design, novel sources of compounds for discovery, as well as advances in compound management.
· Early Safety Evaluation
Issues such as the development of drug transporters & drug resistance, in silico modeling for early safety evaluation, multiparameter optimization of compounds and post-approval safety monitoring will be covered.
· Pharmacodynamics / Biomarkers
The session covers topics as broad as the development of metabolomics and proteomics as tools to identify biomarkers to help in clinical development, as well as the importance of biological repositories for biomarker development.
· Structural and Computational Drug Discovery
This session presents talks covering some of the important topics such as Structural Biology and Structural Genomics and best practices in Utilizing Protein Structure Information.
The BioValley Life Sciences Week (www.biovalley.ch/blsw/2008/) will run parallel to the MipTec Conference (www.miptec.com) and will include the All-SystemsX.ch-Day. There will also be additional user group meetings from Spotfire, Promega, Hamamatsu, Beckman Coulter and Invitrogen.
