PlasmidFactory GmbH & Co. KG, based in Bielefeld, Germany, is the leading contract manufacturer of plasmid and minicircle DNA.
The company offers the production of plasmids and minicircles in several Quality Grades: Research Grade and ccc Grade for research purposes and pre-clinical applications, High Quality (HQ) Grade as starting material for e.g. GMP production of RNA and viral vectors and GMP Grade for clinical applications.
Procedures analogous to the EMEA Directive CHMP/BWP/2458/03 provide one possibility for the so-called High Quality Grade plasmid DNA to meet these specifications during the manufacturing process. PlasmidFactory has developed such a procedure. That involves plasmid DNA, entirely produced without the use of animal substances far to product safety. During the production process of the DNA, impurities are removed as much as possible, e.g. bacterial chromosomal DNA or damaged plasmid forms.
At the beginning of 2011, PlasmidFactory put its own separate, dedicated production area into operation with new laboratories to produce ultrapure HQ plasmid DNA. To avoid cross-contamination, only one plasmid is produced there. Simultaneously production of different plasmids does not occur in the same rooms.
Minicircles are the promising tool to achieve both, increased efficacy as well as regulatory requirements for future clinical applications. PlasmidFactory is exclusively owning all relevant patents and IP in this field and provides service production of these constructs, according to clients requirements.
Besides production of individual plasmids and minicircles, In Stock products that are deliverable immediately off-the-shelf: e.g. reporter genes (gfp, lacZ, luc), AAV Helper & Packaging vectors (pDG/pDP family, several serotypes) or pEPI plasmids (containing S/MAR elements) are also provided.
