ASTORIOM ADVANCES M&A STRATEGY WITH SECOND ACQUISITION THIS MONTH

29 October 2024 — Rochdale, UK — Astoriom, a global leader in the R&D sample stability and biorepository storage industry, has made its second acquisition of 2024 as it takes over Nottingham-based biorepository specialist, MTS Cyro Stores and sister laboratory refrigeration specialist, Cool Repair Scientific UK.
This strategic move follows Astoriom’s acquisition of Flagship Biosciences’s North Carolina biorepository operations earlier this month, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding its global footprint through a robust mergers and acquisitions strategy.
With over 30 years of expertise in safeguarding samples for leading scientific and consumer R&D companies, Astoriom has established a strong reputation in ICH sample stability and biorepository storage, operating state-of-the-art facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
The addition of MTS Cryo Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK brings an additional 30 years of specialised experience providing mission-critical services to customers spanning research facilities, hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies, clinical trial centres, and biobanks worldwide.
Supported by Limerston Capital, a UK mid-market private equity investment firm, Astoriom is focused on growing its capabilities across the US and Europe. This latest acquisition continues the momentum generated by the recent appointment of Lori A. Ball as the new Chief Executive Officer, heralding an exciting new phase of expansion.
Lori A. Ball commented: “This is an important time for Astoriom as we build upon our strong growth trajectory, expanding our reach across the UK, Europe and the US while enhancing our service offerings for clients globally.
“MTS Cryo Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK bring invaluable expertise and innovative technologies that perfectly complement our existing high-quality R&D sample stability storage solutions. Their industry knowledge and cutting-edge practices will not only strengthen our current capabilities but also allow us to explore new avenues for growth and innovation.
“As we continue to evolve, Astoriom is poised to lead the way in biorepository services. This acquisition enables us to deliver even greater value to our customers, supporting their research and innovation projects to the highest possible standard.”
Arien Lettinga, managing director of MTS Cyro Stores, said: “Joining forces with an industry leader such as Astoriom brings huge potential for both MTS Cyro Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK, as we combine our expertise and technology to further excel our offering for customers.
“We are extremely proud of how far we’ve come within our 30-year history as we look forward to our continued growth with Astoriom, building on the service and support that our customers have come to expect.”
