New Teknomek heavy-duty table supports flexible cleanroom and laboratory layouts

August 18, 2026 – –

18 August 2026: Teknomek has enhanced its heavy-duty table range with the introduction of a new centre tie-bar configuration, giving laboratories, cleanrooms and pharmaceutical facilities greater flexibility in how workstations are positioned and used within controlled environments.

The new design addresses a common challenge in research, pharmaceutical manufacturing and cleanroom settings, where worktables positioned away from walls can require additional support. By incorporating a centre tie-bar beneath the work surface, the table delivers stability while remaining fully accessible from all sides.

This allows facilities to create freestanding or island workstations supporting more flexible layouts. The design also makes it easier to reposition tables as workflows, equipment requirements or production processes evolve.

The new design forms part of Teknomek’s heavy-duty table range, which is designed to meet the demands of busy laboratory, pharmaceutical and cleanroom environments where durability, hygiene and operational efficiency are critical. Stainless steel construction provides the robustness required for everyday use, while the new centre tie-bar option gives facilities greater freedom when designing, expanding or reconfiguring work areas.

Michelle Locke, product and marketing manager at Teknomek, comments: “Laboratory and pharmaceutical environments are continually adapting to accommodate new equipment, evolving processes and changing operational requirements. Through discussions with our customers, we identified a need for a workstation that could provide the stability required for freestanding use without compromising operator access.”

“The new centre tie-bar configuration offers a simple but highly effective solution. Facilities can create island workstations that are accessible from all sides, supporting collaborative working, material handling and flexible space utilisation, while maintaining the strength, hygienic design and functionality expected from Teknomek furniture.”

The new configuration expands Teknomek’s comprehensive range of heavy-duty tables, which can be specified in a variety of sizes, support formats and material options. Manufactured from 304L grade stainless steel as standard, tables can also be produced in 316L stainless steel for more demanding hygienic and corrosion-resistant applications. Electropolishing is also an option to further enhance surface smoothness.

Customers can configure tables through Teknomek’s website, specifying a perfect for purpose solution that meets their exact operational requirements rather than adapting their processes around standard furniture dimensions.

As with all Teknomek furniture, the heavy-duty table range is manufactured in the UK and designed to provide the combination of robust construction, hygienic performance and long-term reliability required in laboratory, pharmaceutical and cleanroom environments.
